Itinerary Details

On your arrival at Kochi (Cochin), you will be warmly greeted by our representative and get transferred to your pre-booked hotel. Post-check-in at the hotel, relax for a while and then get ready to explore Kochi's best-known sites. Firstly you'll explore the Mattancherry Palace. Commonly known as the Dutch or Portuguese Palace, the Mattancherry Palace is constructed in the typical Kerala Nalukettu style. The Palace is famous for its central courtyard and has a small temple within it. This temple is dedicated to the 'Pazhayannur Bhagavathy' (the presiding deity of the Cochin royal family). Besides, there are two other temples within the complex - one dedicated to Lord Krishna and the other to Lord Shiva. In addition to temples, the Palace also has a gallery which displays amazing Hindu murals, portraits, and artwork.

Then, move towards an outstanding structure dating back to the 15th-century, Jewish Synagogue. Also known as Paradesi Synagogue or Mattancherry Synagogue, this attraction is one of the oldest Synagogues among the Commonwealth countries. The Jewish Synagogue was constructed by Spanish- speaking Jews and boasts of its rare antiques including beautiful chandeliers, clock tower, brass rail pulpit, Chinese hand-painted tiles, etc.

Then, it's time to have your lunch at a local delicacy joint. Post this, continue your outing with a stopover at Fort Kochi. A seaside town in the south-western part of main Kochi, Fort Kochi is famous for its old-world colonial charm. Much like the small towns of southern Europe, the place is dotted with European structures, churches (the St. Francis Church) and other architectural buildings that surely remind you of the colonial powers that once ruled over the place. Last but not least, don't forget to spend some quality time around local fishermen to observe the operation of the Chinese Fishing Nets, at tranquil Fort Kochi Beach. Later, in the evening you can go for some shopping at the famous Lulu Mall.

Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Today, after an appetizing breakfast, it will be time to travel to Alleppey, the 'Venice of the East'. On arrival, you proceed to check-in on the houseboat from Pallathuruthy. After check-in, your houseboat moves towards the famous SNDP Thodu and Punnamada Kayal. Cruising on Punnamada Kayal is truly a photographer's delight and an unforgettable experience. Punnamada Kayal which is also known as Vembanad Lake is one of the longest lakes in India and the biggest backwater body in Kerala state. Furthermore, the famous 'Nehru Boat Race' in Kerala during the Onam Festival is held on this Kayal.

After cruising, visit the villages nearby. Here, you won't only get a chance to watch and experience the village life but also will be allowed to spend pleasant time interacting with the locals (fishermen) to know more about their lives and cultures. Later, in the evening explore some other places like Kuppapuram and Chitra Palli.

The houseboat is docked for the night at Mangalam/Marthandam.
